Staying safe on Halloween

NEW ORLEANS–This Halloween, law enforcement agencies are stepping up to keep trick-or-treaters safe.

Louisiana state law forbids registered sex offenders from handing out candy to minors or wear masks on Halloween.

Deputies in Saint Bernard Parish will check on the 73 offenders living there to make sure they’re following the law.

The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office has placed signs in the yards of registered sex offenders to keep parents informed.
