Zach Mettenberger for Heisman? A year ago that would have been laughable, but Mettenberger has been the key spoke in an LSU offensive wheel that is averaging more than 45 points a game.
The last two weeks, LSU has scored 100 points on the road in a pair of SEC games. Mettenberger has thrown 15 touchdown passes and two interceptions.
I say he is only two outstanding performances away from being in the thick of the conversation.
If Mettenberger performs at a very high level against the SEC’s best defense, and the Tigers beat Florida, Mettenberger’s stock goes up.
It would go thru the roof if LSU wins at Alabama on November 9.
Right now, only the quarterbacks at Baylor, Florida State, and Louisville have a better pass efficiency rating.
And LSU – by far – has played the toughest schedule of the four teams.
Mettenberger deserves to be in the conversation.
