Coast Guard assists rescue of 1 near Venice

The pilot of the helicopter that crashed into Main Pass south of Venice in Plaquemines Parish has died, according to KATC-TV.

Two of the passengers were injured, one with a reported back injury. One final person aboard the helicopter did not report any injuries.

Acadian Air transported the two injured people to the LSU Medical Center, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
