The Humane Society of Louisiana hopes to end a string of animal cruelty cases involving feral cats.
They’re partnering with Project Spay Neuter.
Julie Hugal lead a workshop Wednesday called T.N.R., “Trap/Neuter/Return. We`re just some trapper gals here trying to get our neighbors to do a good job with the trapping if they are going to attempt it.”
Hugal and her band of high volume cat trappers don’t want any more cats recklessly abandoned on freeways, overpasses, and bridges.
T.N.R. is an outreach program to recruit trapping help from neighbors.
Hugal says the goal for T.N.R. is to empower neighbors with a new option to manage the cat population, “They’re getting them fixed. They got their rabies shots. They’re healthier.”
The program urges people to set a neutering appointment with participating vet clinics before trapping a cat to bring in.
Neutering for Jefferson Parish residents is free.
