New Orleans police arrested 66-year-old Earl Frederic on a charge of possession of child pornography. Frederic is an executive at Entergy in New Orleans.
According to the NOPD, the company contacted police after discovering that Frederic had been downloading child pornography on his office computer. Police say they also searched Frederic’s computer at home and found additional evidence.
Entergy also released a statement. It does not mention Frederic by name. But it does say the employee in question is suspended.
Entergy’s statement also gives some insight into how it discovered the alleged activity. “Entergy’s internal monitoring software detected potentially inappropriate computer-related activity by an employee, and the company immediately alerted the New Orleans Police Department,” the statement reads.
According to police, Frederic posted a $25,000 bond and was released from jail.
