Today the City of Covington closed the lid on a time capsule that holds one hundred years of memories. The ceremony was the last part of the Bicentennial celebration that has gone on for the last year. The last time capsule from 1963 was kept on a shelf, but the new capsule will be sealed in a brick compartment outside of the Trailhead. The contents include the 1963 capsule as well as the new Bicentennial commemorative items, letters from the community, newspapers and a variety of miscellaneous things from 2013. The next time the capsule will be opened will be 2063.
Erin Nicole spoke with Mayor Mike cooper and Sarah Chambless about the event.
