Customers line up in New Orleans for new iPhones

They lined up in front of hi-tech shops all over the New Orleans area even before the sun came up Friday morning to get their hands on the new iPhone 5S and 5C models.

Some people, like Booke Quick, who drove all the way from Morgan City, could barely contain their excitement: “I just wanted the newest and best!”

The line started forming before five Friday morning.

Some came for the new designer colors, others were lured by the cool fingerprint identity sensor.

“The touch sensor I guess is the biggest feature. That’s gonna be pretty neat to just  put your finger on there and it will unlock.”

When the doors opened, shoppers got a choice of two models: the 5S, availalbe in gold, black or white; and the 5C, which comes in five designer colors.

Never mind that this iPhone is supposed to be much faster than the previous models. Best Buy manager Brandon Tate says the new colors are dazzling customers: “Any time that you’re gonna spend your hard earned money out of your pocket today you’re absolutely gonna want to make a fashion statement. I think that now, more than ever, the iPhone customer has that ability.”

Prices range from $99 for a 5C (the one in the cool colors) all the way up to $400 for a 5S model with all the bells and whistles.  Of course, you have to sign a 2-year service contract to get those prices.
