In the spirit of Friday the 13th weekend, the House of Shock is opening its doors. Friday and Saturday night tickets go on sale at 7:30pm. The box office closes at 11:30pm. The House of Shock is located at 319 Butterworth St. Jefferson, LA 70121.

“Abandon all hope, ye who enter, be prepared, don’t go through with heels, prepare to get sweaty.”

Words of caution to those who dare enter the House of Shock. Now in its 21st year, this massive castle of cries boasts over 18 themed rooms of horror. If you think you know what is coming up around the corner think again, every year there are new additions to scare visitors.

“We invent our own characters, you won’t see Jason or Freddie Krueger or Frankenstein here,” says owner Ross Karpelman.

400 volunteers help create this creepy experience and even Ross admits he gets scared. “When we are closing down at the end of the night for sure. There might be somebody left from the crowd that might have lingered back to take vengeance out on my neck,” he jokes.

“You have to give yourself up to the House of Shock, anything can happen at any given time.”
