The Japanese entertainment company that owns the rights to Godzilla is suing the NOLA Brewing Company.

The Japanese say NOLA’s MechaHopzilla beer violates the copyrights for the Japanese monster Godzilla’s mechanized counterpart: Mechagodzilla.

According to Japanese, NOLA Brewing is capitalizing on the popularity of the monster to attract attention and profit.

The lawsuit says NOLA Brewing did not get permission to use the trademarked character.

We reached out to NOLA Brewing Company for a response and they say they have not officially been served with the lawsuit, but they did file for a trademark and are waiting to hear from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
