The search is on for whoever is responsible for shooting and killing 13-month-old Londyn Samuels and wounding 18-year-old Victoria Thomas Thursday night on South Saratoga Street in Central City.
The swat team spent about eight hours outside a house in the area, but the people inside eventually came out without a problem and New Orleans Police have not released their connection to the shooting.
“When a baby like this gets killed we have to all stand up and say that this is not a tolerable situation and we’re gonna bring it to a halt no matter what it is that we have to do,” Mayor Mitch Landrieu said during a Friday afternoon news conference.
“We’d ask the people of New Orleans who know something about this to ask yourself, ‘What kind of a man would shoot at a woman holding a child?’ ” said NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas. “That’s not the kind of person you want to protect and keep information from law enforcement about.”
New Orleans Police have released surveillance stills from near the scene of the shooting. They’re not much, but it’s all the NOPD has to go on as of Friday afternoon.
