Restaurant Shows Support for Parents of Murdered 1-Year-Old Londyn Samuels

“She was my everything.  She was my reason for getting up in the morning,” Keion Reed told a crowd at Cafe Reconcile in Central City.

Reed was talking about his daughter, one-year-old Londyn Samuels, who was shot — along with her babysitter — the night before.  The attack happened in the 2800 block of South Saratoga Street.

Little Londyn died at the hospital.  At last word, her babysitter, identified by neighbors as 18-year-old Victoria Thomas, was in stable condition.

Cafe Reconcile is a familiar place to Londyn’s mother, Andrea Samuels.  She graduated from the culinary program and continues to work at the popular restaurant that provided tasty meals and puts young people on the path to success.

Andrea Samuels did not speak during the media event.  But the CEO of the restaurant, Glen Armentrout, did and fought back tears as he held up a photo of Londyn for everyone to see.

“Burn this in your memories,” Armentrout said.  “Don’t ever forget this.  She’s one of ours.”

A memorial fund has been set up to help Londyn’s family deal with her murder.  A donation can be made in her name at any Capital One bank or at Cafe Reconcile.

Anyone who could help police find the little girl’s killers is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.  There is a $5,000 reward in the case.
