Two Suspects In Officer Hit-And-Run Booked In 2005 Murder Case

John Chambers and Kenney Halley are suspects in the case of NOPD officer Rodney Thomas who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in July.

Thursday, New Orleans police say the pair was also indicted for a murder that happened in April 2005.

According to police, 21-year-old Joseph Lucien was shot once in the chest i the 1700 block of Egania Street.

According to police, both suspects were arrested in 2005 but were never prosecuted.

Halley faces a manslaughter charge, among others, in connection with Officer Thomas’ death.  His bond was set at $1.6 million in that case.  Now he faces an addition $1 million dollar bond for the murder charge.

Chambers is accused of being an accessory after the fact in the officer’s death.  His bond was set at $800,000 in that case.  He also faces an additional $1 million bond in the 1995 murder case.
