Adopt a chicken from the LA/SPCA

235 hens and chicks rescued by the LA/SPCA last week from a suspected cock-fighting operation in New Orleans East went up for adoption today, but not just anyone can adopt a hen. You must prove that you have a chicken coop for them to go in.

Also, if you live in an area where chickens roam free and neighbors complain then you have to prove that you have an enclosed area to keep the chickens from escaping.

The LA/SPCA seized 600 roosters and hens Wednesday that they say were being used to breed roosters for cockfights.
