(from the City of Slidell) – The City of Slidell, in consultation with the State Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), has issued a boil water advisory on Thursday morning for limited sections of Slidell around Northshore Boulevard. The area includes commercial areas north and south of Interstate 12, as well as Camp Villere. This advisory follows a drop in pressure caused by a driver who hit a fire hydrant causing an uncontrolled flow of water.
Businesses and other affected interests are asked boil tap water before drinking, bathing or rinsing food with it. The protocol is to keep water at a rolling boil for at least a minute before using it until the advisory is lifted.
Although the pumping system is operating fully again, the City of Slidell is following strict DHH standards and testing water samples to confirm that it is safe to consume.
