An NOPD officer fired a single shot at a suspect Thursday evening during a car crash and chase.

It started at about 6:30.  Police say they tried to pullover a car for traffic violations but it sped away.

Police say the car ran a stop sign and crashed into a truck at Iberville and North Miro.  They say a passenger reached for a gun, so an officer responded by firing a single shot but missed.

The passenger was arrested.  The driver was able to run from the scene and, as of Thursday night, was still on the run.
