Explosives Scare Proves To Be False Alarm

The NOPD’s Hazmat team will analyze a substance that was retrieved from a home in Algiers Tuesday night.  Bottom line, police say it is not any kind of explosive.

Earlier in the evening, police weren’t so sure what they had on their hands.  A little before 6:30, police announced that a woman called them to say she’d found explosives in her attic.

The home is in the 2800 block of Hyman Place.  Police set up a perimeter in the area and began a very careful investigation.

At about 9:30, police gave the all clear.
