Hometown ‘American Idol’ Finalist Burnell Taylor Talks Tour, Future in Music
“When we drove in this morning I was like ‘everybody wake up, we’re in New Orleans, we’re in New Orleans’ I almost cried this morning driving in just because being from New Orleans and seeing things that other people don’t see, we don’t get a lot of opportunities,” says Burnell Taylor.
But this year has been full of opportunities for the New Orleans native. He placed 7th on season 12 of American Idol and now he’s touring the nation with ten other finalists.
“Traveling on the road its something new because I didn’t do a lot of traveling as a child, so seeing things I never saw before and seeing cities I’ve never been to before, it’s also amazing because I get to see new things.”
The experience has been a dream come true but as Taylor enjoys the rest of the tour, he’s also thinking of what’s to come.”For the Saints and the Dolphins game I sing the national anthem so I’m excited about that and I do a couple of things for Southern University homecoming and I’m just writing and taking one step at a time and not rushing,” says Taylor.
The stop home is short and sweet but he’s not taking a single note for granted. “A lot of people are going to be in the audience that want to be on stage so the fact that I can be that example, it’s breathtaking.”
The American Idol Live tour will be at the UNO Lakefront Arena Tuesday July 30th at 7:30pm. For ticket information visit: http://arena.uno.edu/default.aspx
