Deadly Weekend in the New Orleans Metro Area

7 people were shot and 5 died over the weekend in the Metro area.

In Harvey, a fight inside a bar led to a shooting in the 2000 block of Manhattan Blvd.  It happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.  Authorities say Ricardo Rosa was shot several times and died from his injuries.

A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in the 2800 block of Mt. Kennedy Dr. in Marrero.  The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says the boy had gotten out of a car with his mother when the shots rang out.  The boy was shot in the chest.

In Gretna, a shooting claimed the life of a Hispanic man early Sunday morning.  It happened around 2:00 a.m. on the 500 block of Commerce St.  A witness says she heard at least 5 shots and saw the victim fall to the ground.

The NOPD says two shootings in Central City just an hour apart killed 2 men and injured 1.  The first shooting claimed the life of a 35-year-old man on 2nd and S. Roman just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.  An hour later, shots rang out near 8th and Baronne Streets.  A 43-year-old man was killed and a 37-year old man is recovering in the hospital from a gunshot wound to the hip.

In the 7th Ward, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed.  Police say it happened after 7:00 p.m. Saturday night in the 1400 block of St. Anthony St.  The victim was shot in the chest and was found in a car.
