Senator David Vitter is taking on FEMA because of their new flood maps.

The preliminary flood maps for Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard Parishes came out earlier this month and Vitter says they didn’t take into account all the work the Army Corps of Engineers has been doing to improve the levees and pumps and that could mean unnecessary rate hikes for flood insurance.

Vitter says FEMA broke a promise to take the improvements into consideration before releasing new maps.
