Friends and family had their flags waving and their hugs and kisses ready to go for the Louisiana National Guard’s 756th Area Support Medical Company as the troops returned from deployment to Afghanistan.

The returns occur in cities around the country.  But his one in Carville this morning happened on the Fourth of July, making the patriotic holiday even more poignant.

The troops left for Afghanistan last September.  They provided emergency medical, dental and medevac services.  The 756th is comprised of doctors, surgeons, nurses, dental technicians and combat medics.
