Explosion Blasts Rural Area In Washington Parish

Around 5:30 this morning a gas line exploded causing a big blast and fire in Washington Parish.  It happened in a field in the town of Enon on Lee Road.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said a 30-inch natural gas line ruptured causing the explosion.  Florida Gas owns the line and they shut it down.  The fire was put out by 6:45 this morning.

Louisiana State Police shut down several roads in the surrounding areas.  55 people were evacuated from their homes.  There were no injuries or fatalities.

At this time the cause is still under investigation.
