Sales tax holiday for hurricane preparedness items

This weekend is the time to prepare for hurricane season. Saturday and Sunday are state tax holidays on hurricane-preparedness items. That means you don’t have to pay the 4% state sales tax on things like flashlights, self-powered radios, batteries, coolers, and generators (you do still have to pay parish and city taxes, though).
