EF5 category tornado rips Moore, Oklahoma

Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore, Oklahoma took a direct hit from the tornado that hit the state on Monday, May 20, 2013.

The National Weather Service says the massive tornado that raked Moore, Oklahoma on Monday, May 20, 2013, was an EF5, the most powerful category of tornado possible, and had estimated peak winds ranging from 200 to 210 mph and was 1.3 miles wide. At least 24 people — including nine children — were killed.
