After months of construction, New Orleans is finally getting it’s own miniature golf course. Construction began in September, and now this family-friendly attraction is gearing up to open just in time for summer.
City Putt features two 18-hole miniature golf courses inspired by local flavor and iconic Louisiana elements including the swamp, alligators, and music. City Putt’s complex is 100% ADA accessible. The course sponsored by First NBC highlights various cities around the state of Louisiana. The course sponsored by Stanley Ray Civic and Philanthropic Trust is a New Orleans themed course focusing on notable city street names with the tiles included.
Chief Development Officer for New Orleans City Park, John Hopper said the excitement level for this course is extremely high.
“There is no other mini-golf course anywhere close to New Orleans. The contractor says that every day at least 20 people come up and ask when the park will open,” Hopper said.
It’s an elaborate course that’s challenging enough for a Tiger Woods-like putter, but also fur for the entire family.
“It’s not just a little piece of green, a hole, and you putt towards it. Whether you are 4 years old or 80 years old, you will have fun out here,” Hopper said.
City Putt opens in City Park this Friday, May 24th at 11 a.m. City Putt is located in City Park near the Great Lawn and across from Storyland.
The first 150 guests through City Putt’s gates on opening day will have the chance to win a special prize if they draw a golden golf ball out of the City Putt golf ball basket.
Free popcorn and Arnold Palmers will also be available, while supplies last.
