The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is issuing a warning for anyone who plans to use fireworks as part of their celebrations this summer.  Be careful and follow all safety rules and instructions.

Fire Marshal Butch Browning released a list of injuries sustained across the state last year from fireworks.  In each case, human error was a contributing factor.

In some cases, people were holding fireworks in their hands rather than placing them on the ground.  In other cases, people used old fireworks or tried to relight them when they appeared to be duds.

“When things go wrong, they go wrong fast,” Browning said as part of his office’s public appeal.  “…citizens are urged to use extreme caution when handling fireworks to ensure a safe, fire-free holiday.”
