Tempers soared Uptown as passionate crowds came out to vocalize their stance on a heated topic: abortion.

It comes as Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading provider of abortions, prepares to open a 7,000 square foot facility near South Claiborne and Napoleon. Unlike the Magazine Street location, this one will provide abortions. It’ll actually become a regional abortion center drawing in women from across the Gulf Coast.

Today’s protest was organized by pro-life advocates. Children were bussed in, the Catholic Church was represented, and personal stories were shared, but those pro-choice were also vocal.

The Planned Parenthood facility on South Claiborne is expected to open in 2014.
