Friday’s steady rain caused plenty of problems for people trying to stay dry or safe.
Heavy rain in Metairie set the evening commute on I-10 into slow motion.
“I kinda find out that most people when it rains they speed up,” says one commuter.
“As long as you go slow. That`s the main thing. You don`t want to hydroplane,” says another.
Percussionist John Dotson hopes the constant precipitation doesn`t drive crowds away from Frenchmen Street this weekend, “If Kermit Ruffins out here, you going to get a crowd at the Blue Nile no matter what. But with the rain hopefully it`ll slack up and people will come out.”
Two tourists walking the French Quarter say they are grateful the World War Two museum sells ponchos, “We didn`t expect this kind of weather. We thought it was going to be hot and sunny.”
Bad weather has as postponed several events planned for this weekend like the Nature Park Spring Fling and Swing in the Pines concert on the North shore.
