The 2013 Children’s World’s Fair, presented by Chevron, will explore “A World of Big Ideas” through an International exhibition of crafts, food, music, hands-on projects, literature, and more on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Louisiana Children’s Museum, 420 Julia St. Tickets are on sale now.
The theme of the 2013 Children’s World’s Fair is “A World of Big Ideas” and celebrates cultural diversity in the contributions of great science, technology, engineering and math (S.T.E.M.) achievements around the world. S.T.E.M. education is one of Louisiana Children’s Museum’s five strategic initiatives, and an educational focus in each of the country’s exhibits.
Children’s World’s Fair creates an International environment for children ages 4-14 to experience diverse history, culture and cuisine as they travel through eight featured countries. At this year’s street festival, families can stamp their passports in Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ireland, Monaco, Panama and Vietnam as they travel down Julia Street. Inside the museum, travelers can step inside the Earth Balloon, a 22-foot inflatable classroom that offers an up close look at natural science and geography.
“This event lets children travel around the world with without ever leaving Julia Street,” said Julia Bland, executive director of the Louisiana Children’s Museum. “The fair will be alive with activity including performances by Irish step dancers, a fossil dig in Argentina, samples of Vietnamese cuisine, and more. At the Children’s World’s Fair, families can play and learn together about diverse cultural traditions and history.”
As Food Court Sponsor, Piccadilly Restaurants will have well-balanced, kid-friendly lunch items available for purchase at the event.
