“As you come to this turn right here, it’s kind of deceiving, you think you have to wrap all the way around, you don’t. You turn, then you swing all the way to the other side looking for another cone,” says Dustin Carter instructing his first class of the morning. This is the Exotic Driving Experience and you can find it at Nola Motorsports Park in Avondale.
Take it from me, the experience is definitely worth it! “We are sitting in a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, Scuderia standing for stable of horses, it’s one of Ferrari’s top-notch cars, it’s actually a discontinued model, they stopped making them in 2009,” says Carter. “ The Ferrari 450 replaced it, but this car is still pretty powerful. Just a little over 500 horsepower, 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 3.2 seconds. ” I’m impressed and the engine isn’t even running. These cars are built for speed but they’re also built for beauty. Not only will fancy car enthusiasts appreciate the Exotic Driving Experience, anyone with taste will too.
“Why is driving this Ferrari different from driving a Toyota Corolla?” I asked him. “For one, you can say you drove a Ferrari, this is well over a 300 thousand dollar car when it was brand new so you’re sitting in an elite group of cars.”
“They’re built to go fast in a straight direction and turn even better, the braking capabilities , you go to a stop sign you barely touch the break these thing go from 140 to 20, 30 miles per hour in 60 feet.. some people don’t even get a chance to see one, you may see one passing going down the road, you get to drive one today. ”
The experience is incredible. First, a fifteen minute class conducted by a professional instructor. Then, five laps around the track in one of several exotic cars. You have the option of purchasing a video and audio recording of your trip as well as photos fit for framing.
“As long as you leave the car with a smile on your face that’s all we care about,” says Carter.
