It was induction day for the first class of the Friday Night Football Hall of Fame presented by WOW Cafe and Wingery.
The class of five included former Covington coach Jack Salter; the late Brother Martin coach Bob Conlin; O. Perry Walker’s statistician and film man Alfred Ragas; former Destrehan Wildcat Ed Reed, who won a Super Bowl with the Ravens here in February; and former Isidore Newman School and current Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
Peyton was represented by current Newman head coach Nelson Stewart and his father, Archie.
“He’s proud to have grown up in New Orleans,” Archie told WGNO Sports. “He’s proud to have played prep football in New Orleans, and to have played at Newman. And when I told him about this, it meant a lot to him.”
In the summer, we’ll begin accepting nominations for the second class of the WOW Cafe and Wingery Friday Night Football Hall of Fame.
