State Could Begin “Do Not Text” List

You’ve heard of the “Do Not Call” list.  Now Louisiana could soon have a similar list for texting.

Chairman of the Public Service Commission Eric Skrmetta is asking his staff to begin developing guidelines for the list.

Skrmetta says marketers and advertisers are sending unwanted solicitations to customers who often must pay for the text messages themselves.

The “Do Not Text” list would prohibit companies from sending unsolicited text messages to registered numbers.

The PSC could see a draft of the idea within the next few months.
