A Washington Parish deputy called it one of the most disturbing abuse cases he’s seen in quite some time.

The sheriff’s office arrested two people who they say are engaged.

Jeremy Denny and Cassie Hutton are charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Deputies say they were called to Riverside Hospital in Franklinton where Denney’s nine-week-old son was so severely dehydrated and malnourished he was within hours of dying.

The child is now in custody of the state.

Deputies say three other people lived with the couple and they have warrants out for their arrests.
