LSU ready to kickoff 9th season with Miles
” We are by no means in position to predict a grand season, but this is the style of team, if they work hard and do what they are capable of doing, that they would like other teams who have gone thru here compete for the title,” said Miles.
Miles was spewing optimism Wednesday one day before his team begins spring practice. It is Miles’ 9th spring as LSU head coach.
The Tigers sent a record 11 underclassmen to the NFL draft.
Among the position switches: guard La’El Collins will move to left tackle. And, senior Lamin Barrow will move to middle linebacker.
Miles said that LSU will put extra emphasis on the four minute offense. That is the ability to control the ball late in games.
LSU led Alabama with under two minutes to play. But, the Tigers stalled inside the Bama 30 and missed a field goal. Alabama then drove to score the game winning touchdown.
Miles said he had no information on the arrest of 2013 signee Rickey Jefferson of Destrehan. The younger brother of Jordan Jefferson was charged with resisting arrest after an alleged incident on a Metairie parade route February 2nd. Miles said he was not aware of the incident that occurred four days before national signing day. And, he has not spoken to Jefferson.
“This is new information to me. Obviously we did not know. We will have to trail behind and find out what’s going on, but we are without information at this point.”
The LSU spring game is Saturday April 20th. Admission is free.
