UPDATE: All lanes are open at Causeway Blvd and River Road.
UPDATE: It was incorrectly reported to WGNO that the dump truck left the scene of the accident. State Police confirm that the dump truck did not leave the scene.
METAIRIE (WGNO) – Louisiana State Police will investigate an early morning traffic accident that ended up causing a house fire at the intersection of Causeway Blvd and River Road.
Officials with the Jefferson Parish Fire Department tell WGNO News that the accident was between a dump truck and a pickup truck. The dump truck went off the road and into a nearby house, which had ammunition inside, starting the fire.
At least one person was inside the home, but no injuries have been reported.
While State Police investigate, the intersection will be closed to traffic.

The fire was not cause by ammo in the house the fire was caused by a gas leak caused by the dump truck hitting the house.

How about UPDATING the actual truth of the story… This is very false, the dump truck ran over the gas line causing the fire. All of the ammunition was found INSIDE after the fire. Also the dump truck could not leave the scene but the driver did in fact leave the scene and was heading down the street where he was found minutes later.

Okay, so a dump truck full of fuel violently crashed thru a center block fence, and into a house, bursts into flames from a running engine with exposed fuel lines… and the boxed ammo which needs a precision pin to ignite the primer on each round, magically got set off, and caused the fire. Not the burning dump truck….
