Who let the (police) dogs out?
MARRERO, LA (WGNO) – Two state police dogs intentionally let out of their West Bank handler’s back yard are sitting pretty at home again.
K-9 officers Bruno and Luke where missing when their handler got home Tuesday night.
The narcotic detecting police dogs were found separately wandering Marrero’s Bent Tree Estates then brought to separate animal shelters.
“We do suspect foul play. We do suspect that somebody let these dogs out maliciously, says Melissa Matey with Louisiana State Police Troop “B.”
Investigators are determined to pinpoint who let the dogs out.
“They`re troopers too. They wear badges just like all of us do so we care for them very deeply,” says Matey who assures Bruno and Luke are trained to sniff out drugs, not attack. “So there is no threat to the public with these animals.”
Detectives want the public’s help locating who’s responsible.
Whoever let the dogs out faces criminal charges of trespassing and damage to property.
The K-9’s handler will not be disciplined.
