Weather Service Confirms Tornado Caused Houma Damage


The National Weather Service confirmed it was a tornado that caused the damage in Houma along Grand Caillou Road Monday.

The organization says an EF 1 with maximum winds of 95-miles per hour damaged cars, broke windows on buildings and tore a door off of a convenience store.

One of the broken windows was at the medical center.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.

The National Weather Service also confirmed a tornado Sunday in Mathews.

It was an EF 0 with maximum winds of 85-miles per hour.
