What: More than 18,000 runners will tour the Big Easy on two legs as the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & ½ Marathon returns on Sunday, February 24. An impressive field of elite athletes will join beginners and runners looking for a little fun as live bands rock each mile, cheerleading squads motivate and entertain and thousands of spectators combine for a race day experience unlike any other.

More than 100 exhibitors offering the latest running gear, training tips and interactive clinics. Free and open to the public.

 Runners will start on Poydras Street and run along beautiful and historic St. Charles Avenue before touring the iconic French Quarter and City Park, with breathtaking views of Lake Ponchartrain before finishing behind the New Orleans Museum of Art

Why:
  • In 2013, more than $75,000 has been raised for various charities through the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & ½ Marathon.
  • In 2013, runners will travel from all 50 states and 23 countries, annually creating an estimated $30 million in total economic impact

 

  • 62% of the participants are women

 

  • The free Health & Expo is open to the public on Friday from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and will showcase the latest in running and fitness apparel, nutrition and information. All registered runners must pick up their race numbers at the Expo.

 

  • The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will headline the post-race concert at City Park
  • Children in grades K-7 can experience their own finish line fun at ING KiDS ROCK New Orleans on Saturday, February 23 at City Park.
