Campus police caution people to be more vigilant about personal safety after a Delgado student was robbed and carjacked.

Many students were just learning about Wednesday night’s near campus armed carjacking by the intersection of Navarre  and Orleans Avenue.

“I live right across the street. I have two small kids so my concerns are just for their safety,” says neighbor Stacy clutching her daughter.  “You’re almost afraid to be alone because you never know what to expect.”

Police say the carjacker was armed with a silver 9mm semiautomatic handgun wearing a dark hooded jacket and black tennis shoes.

They say he drove away in the victim’s 2004 gold Toyota Highlander with Louisiana plates.
