Now the Cenacle Retreat House is up for sale.
“I think it’s going to fetch a good price, it’s truly unique,” RE/MAX Commercial Broker Richard Juge said. “There’s nothing like it out there.”
He’s talking about Cenacle Retreat House.
The 19-acre parcel, located in an upscale Metairie neighborhood, near Lake Pontchartrain, is up for sale.
For 55-years the Cenacle Sisters have occupied the property and provided community service through ministries.
“I want it to stay like it is, it’s nice and peaceful, and especially when we go walking up the lake with our puppies it’s nice,” Englander said.
It’s currently zoned for single-family residential use.
Neighbor Barbara Englander is worried the property will be sold and developed into a subdivision.
“It’s going to be more traffic through here,” Englander said. “That’s going to be a lot for this neighborhood.”
Commercial Broker Richard Juge says the property could potentially be developed into 70 to 100 lots.
“It really should be good for the neighborhood.” “It’s going to help the housing values of the people that live around there. It will help businesses around there,” Juge said.
Starting February 20th, interested buyers will have nearly two months to examine the property and submit a bid.
“The ownness is on the buyer to do their due diligence on the front; to try and figure out what they think they can do with the property in advance, and then turn in a bid accordingly on the 18th,” Juge said.
The Sealed Bid Sale is the best way to get the highest possible bids in a short amount of time.
The Cenacle Sisters will remain on the property and continue ministry programs through August.
