Wide receiver Devin Scott signed with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Wednesday, after he spurned an offer from Nebraska.
Scott told his coach Marcus Scott the most important thing was honoring his commitment.
“I was shocked, but the kid really made a conscious decision, and I am proud of him for sticking by his commitment,” coach Scott told WGNO Sports.
When the ULL coaches heard Devin was staying in Louisiana, “They started yelling,” coach Scott said. “They were very excited he stayed with ULL. They thought he was going to Nebraska.”
Scott drew interest after a stellar season: he caught 8 touchdowns passes, and had 200 plus receiving yards against Brother Martin.
Scott said he couldn’t tell assistant coach Tim Rebowe and head coach Mark Hudspeth, no.
“My relationship with the coach was very strong, and I felt that’s where I belonged,” Devin said.
