According to Louisiana State Police, the couple stopped their Nissan Altima on the side of I-10 in St. Charles Parish. Nechole Thomas, a 26-year-old woman from Houston, was speeding in a 2002 Mercedes C230 and hit the Nissan. Both vehicles caught fire and it was only after the fire had been extinguished that two bodies were found in the Nissan.
Thomas had only minor injuries.
At the time, State Police said they were unable to confirm the identities of the pair because of the extent of their injuries.
