Love it, Like it, Hate it: The Skinny on King Cake Servings

If king cake is one of your favorite parts of Carnival season, then go ahead and indulge from time to time.  But it poses a unique challenge for the weight conscious, since you’ll almost never find a nutrition facts label on a king cake box.

So here’s your king cake calorie cheat sheet to figure out how many calories are really in that slice of king cake.  And if it’s worth it to you, enjoy!

One-inch slice (diameter of a quarter)

100 calories & 15 grams of white, sugary carbs

What it takes to burn it off:  30 minutes of setting up camp along the parade route

 Like it!

3-inch slice (approximate width of iPhone or Blackberry with case)

300 calories and 45 grams of white, sugary carbs

What it takes to burn it off: Catching beads for 90 minutes
Hate it!

Six-inch slice (length of a dollar bill)

600 calories & 90 grams of white, sugary carbs

What it takes to burn it off:  Two hours of walking the parade route
