A step inside the 10-thousand square foot Guerlain Spa at the Roosevelt Hotel is a step into another world. The luxury oasis is a calming change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. Spa director Debra Oakley says, “People like to get away, distress a little bit, especially detox when you’re in New Orleans is really important as well, so we’ll incorporate all of that into our spa services.”
The spa and its staff are working overtime to prepare for the onslaught of guests Super Bowl weekend. The iconic Roosevelt Hotel is hosting big name NFL sponsors. They sold out the 4 night stretch a year and a half ago and have been prepping for the big game for months. Oakley says, “We’ve made sure we’ve got all the staff on board and everyone’s looking forward to it. A lot of excitement. I think the hotel will be buzzing and the town will be buzzing and with Mardi Gras incorporated into that, it’s just the best time of year.”
To get guests in the Super Bowl spirit, the hotel created a football inspired spa menu for both visitors and locals alike. If you’re not staying at the Roosevelt, you can still book the treatments. They offer a 20% percent discount for locals, Sunday-Thursday! Esthetician Cassandra Dyess tries out the ‘Linebacker Facial’ on me. The treatment is called Nuface and uses a micro current device tighten the skin. Oakley says, “We’ll do a 25 minute treatment and it actually tones the muscles in your skin. It`s kind of like pilates for your face.”
On top of the Linebacker Facial, the Roosevelt can tackle your aches and pains with an Unnecessary Roughness deep tissue massage or score a touchdown with the Superdome Shampoo and Blowdry. Don’t think it’s just for the ladies. Oakley says 30% of her guests are men. Folks who want to look and feel like a million dollars… for the biggest sporting event of the year!
