On Little Hope Street in Garyville, a family is holding out hope for one thing.
“We need justice. We’re crying out now for justice. That’s all we want is justice,” said Tracey Russell as she stood near the spot where her brother was murdered Sunday night.
Russell says her brother, 29-year-old Michael Lee, was the kind of guy who kept everyone laughing. His accused killer was no stranger to Lee or his family members.
“They knew each other all their life,” Russell said.
Russell and St John Parish Deputies say 18-year-old Tevin Bolden shot and killed Lee. At the scene, dozens of bullets may have been fired. Russell says her brother was hit five times and died at a hospital in New Orleans. The bullets also hit at least two homes in the area.
“From my knowledge, they were playing dice. And after Tevin lost all his money, he decided to retaliate. He shot my brother down,” Russell said.
Tevin Bolden is also from Garyville according to St John Deputies. He faces charges of Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and Illegal Use of a Weapon.
Anyone with information on Bolen’s whereabouts is asked to call St John Deputies at 985-652-6338 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
