Saints and Sean Payton Agree to Contract Extension

Saints owner Tom Benson said he never had any doubt.

His suspended head coach Sean Payton has agreed to a contract extension for a reported five years.

Payton was a free agent because the NFL voided a contract extension because of language in the deal the league deemed inappropriate.

Payton and Benson were at the Hornets game Friday night.

Payton was suspended for the entire season for his alleged role in the Saints bounty program.

He could return to the team before the Super Bowl in New Orleans next month.
