They’ve become a tradition of their own and today is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!
The creative Christmas threads aren’t just for moms anymore! They’re popping up at parties, bursting out of bookshelves and becoming big business for guys like Andrew Hume. He says, “I would you know, just reminisce about my school teacher or somebody at church who would wear these really gaudy sweaters.”
Hume created the website www.uglychristmassweatershq.com. He buys festive frocks from a wholesaler and lists each one with a photo and catchy caption. However, while the digital age may order online I prefer shopping the old fashioned way and I have the best luck at second hand stores like the Salvation Army and Goodwill.
I can’t help but smile when I shop. Hume says the yuletide yarnware is guaranteed to spread Christmas cheer. “I’ve had some bad years when I just wasn’t into Christmas and this has just turned that around!”
