When former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards dropped by WGNO, we asked him about what he’s been up to (“Sometimes I think about going back to prison so I can get some rest.”), along with his thoughts on Louisiana politics.

We also wanted to hear his thoughts on the current debate on gun control after the tragic shooting deaths of the 20 students and 6 teachers & staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

“Hunting is one thing, having a pistol to protect yourself in your home or on your person is another thing,” he told LBJ and Anne Cutler. “Having an automatic rifle, an assault weapon, is something else. I have a problem with people just generally being able to buy those automatic weapons.”
