Texas A&M’s quarterback, Jonny Manziel, became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.
Manziel beat out Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o. Manziel is the second Heisman winner from Texas A & M. John David Crow a running back received the honor in 1957.
Manziel is also known by his nickname “Johnny Football.” Manziel passed for 3,419 yards and 24 touchdowns, rushed for 1,181 yards and 19 touchdowns. He led the Aggies to a 29-24 upset of then number one Alabama.
