LSU to play Clemson in Chick-fil-A Bowl
The Cotton Bowl chose Texas A&M, leaving LSU to head to Atlanta to play Clemson in the Chick-Fil-A bowl. The game will be played New Year’s Eve night.
LSU is making its second trip to the Chick-fil-A bowl in 5 seasons. The Tigers beat Georgia Tech 38-3. But, that season was completely different from 2012. LSU lost 5 SEC games in 2008.
This season, the Tigers won 10 and lost to 2, by four points at home to Alabama and by eight points at Florida.
LSU finished 8th in the final BCS standings.
Texas A&M will play Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma was thought to be headed to the Sugar Bowl. But, Northern Illinois, winners of the MAC championship game, won at automatic spot in a BCS bowl game.
Northern Illinois will play Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Louisville will play Florida in the January 2nd, Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Other Louisiana teams to go bowling are Louisiana-Monroe (Independence), and Louisiana-Lafayette (New Orleans Bowl). Louisiana Tech apparently turned down the Independence Bowl in hopes of going to the Liberty Bowl.
The Liberty Bowl chose Iowa State, and the Independence Bowl moved on to Ohio.
