Hornets 2nd Annual “Season of Giving”-Tyler Wing Reports

New Orleans Hornets guard Roger Masons Jr. took time from the NBA season to help kick off ‘the season of giving’ at the 2nd annual Turkey Dinner Giveaway.

Tonda Bryant says this Thanksgiving is the 2nd year New Hope Ministries is giving away turkey dinners, but their first working with the Roger Mason Jr. Foundation, “He came to me and said he wanted to do something within the community.”

“And I decided to donate some turkeys for some families that could use the help,” says Mason Jr.

Lending a hand are teammates Austin Rivers, Darius Miller, Al-Farouq Aminu and Xavier Henry.

“Just the simple turkey can do so much for a family, for a single mother, for people who don`t have much, says Henry.

“They have smiles on their faces and when you give them food and to pass out things to families in need is a great thing, says Rivers.

In all the Roger Mason Jr. Foundation and New Hope Ministries will hand out 350 boxes with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner, “The turkey and all the trimmings. Dressing, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese,” says Bryant.
